In depth

Verdict

P J McDonald did really well to steer Silver Tigress into second over C&D last month as her reins broke when leaving the stalls and she lost valuable ground early in the race. She'll be expected to reverse running with the winner, Hal Of A Lover, on more favourable terms today. However, the latter had earlier finished nearly four lengths behind Catterick runner-up AL FURAT and Ron Barr's charge is taken to upset the likely market leaders and come out best today. A Southside Boy finished second over 1m4f here in June, but was still beaten eight lengths and Cadgers Brig takes a big step up in trip.
