In depth

Verdict

A typically open handicap to conclude proceedings and Sands Of Barra is taken to just reverse placings with Kirby's Treasure, while Grand Diamond, Dudley Docker and Esoterica can also go well. Sands Of Barra gave 3lb and was beaten a neck by Kirkby's Treasure over c&d recently, and has since gone on to land an Ayr handicap over this trip last time. All ground comes alike to him, and with form on the board and a 1lb pull with Kirkby's Treasure it may be his turn today. Grand Diamond won a three-year-old handicap here over a mile last time and from the same mark can again be competitive. Dudley Docker attempts to give weight away all around and had some bombproof form in context here. He is virtually guaranteed to run his race and off this mark he will go very close. Esoterica won at both Thirsk and Redcar earlier in the month but is probably a bit too high in the weights now as a result. An interesting conclusion to the card then and Sands Of Barra just gets the nod.
