In depth

Verdict

The formbook points directly at a first success for ORIGINAL OPTION here. Noel Meade's charge, a bumper winner on heavy ground at Limerick, showed that his introductory run over timber at Tipperary had done him good when an excellent second to Mount Helicon in a Grade 3 at Cork over today's trip. That form looks far superior to anything achieved by these rivals including Jack Bene, twice runner-up in points and on his hurdling bow behind Captain Declan at Wexford. Doonaghroe was held up at the rear before some late headway behind Sweet Shock over 2m6f at Punchestown so today's long trip should suit but the remainder will need to find major improvement to get competitive.
