Verdict

Having seemingly failed to stay three miles last time Miko de Beauchene is dropped back slightly in trip but he appears difficult to win with and it may be worth chancing the inexperienced Pirate Flagship, who gets the vote ahead of Dante's Back. The selection showed plenty of promise on his only previous start, when third behind the useful The Mick Weston in a Chepstow bumper in December that has worked out well. Sure to have been well schooled by trainer Paul Nicholls, the six-year-old is taken to make a winning debut over hurdles. Dante's Back would have solid claims if able to reproduce the form of his second behind Football Crazy in May but has disappointed since then, most notably when pulled up at Chepstow last time. With Aintree's Grand National meeting starting next week it will be interesting to see how Jonjo O'Neill's Corton performs on his debut, while Nicky Henderson's Foxton Brook is clearly though capable of better than he has shown so far having run in the Punchestown Champion bumper. Miko de Beauchene has an obvious chance but has looked trip-less and a chance is taken with Pirate Flagship.
