In depth

Verdict

Rock On Ruby won well enough at Taunton last month but the Paul Nicholls-trained gelding is likely to struggle under his penalty today and a better bet looks to be Nicky Henderson's THE WHITE ADMIRAL, who is preferred to stable companions Blue Monster and Winning Habit. The last mentioned makes his debut today and is probably best watched under conditional David Bass, while Irish import Blue Monster has his first start for Henderson having shown some promise in three starts in bumpers in Ireland and has to be respected under J P Magnier. Jeremy Scott's Grey Missile is open to improvement after just the one start when a fair fifth at Kempton last month but he needs to improve. Alan King's Bless The Wings improved from his debut effort when a close fourth at Market Rasen last time and he makes more appeal than Karasenir, who is closely matched with Rock On Ruby on their running at Taunton and he may have to settle for minor honours again. The vote then goes the way of Nicky Henderson's The White Admiral, who made a pleasing debut when a fair fifth behind Megastar at Sandown in November and he looks worth siding with now that the yard's runners are in better form.
