In depth

Verdict

There are several unexposed types in this including top weight Professor Calculus, though Pat Dobbs prefers Sunset who might do better on this quicker surface. Semper Augustus was disqualified at Thirsk after his rider failed to weigh in but that was a decent effort back on Turf. Dark Esteem hasn’t been running badly on the all-weather but others have more scope. SECRET HAUNT and Aussie Rascal also have a bit to prove on this surface but William Haggas’ charge was hampered in the closing stages when second last time at Chelmsford so get the nod.
