    Verdict

Division two of the fillies' maiden can go to Silca Chiave, with Fustaan, Miss Jenny and Mimisel others worth a mention. Silca Chiave is reckoned to be one of Mick Channon's best fillies, and it will be a major surprise if she does not step up on her promising debut at Ascot three weeks ago in the race won 12 months ago by her half-sister Silca's Sister. It took a long time for the penny to drop at the Berkshire track, but when it did she really stayed on to good effect to finish a close third to Italian Girl, and judged by the way that she has worked at home since, victory is very much on the cards. Fustaan is well related, and her performance here will determine whether Marcus Tregoning can start to make some slightly more ambitious plans for the daughter of Royal Applause. Miss Jenny was fancied on her Windsor debut but lost her chance at the start. With that in mind she did well to get back into that contest and finish sixth. Brian Meehan's filly should open her account before the season is out, and is worth keeping on the right side. Mimisel finished a place ahead of Shustraya on her debut at Windsor, and a good effort by the latter in the opener here will be a good indicator of her chances. If the vibes are right though, it is Silca Chiave that is very much the one to be on.
