In depth

Verdict

An exceptionally hot race and the punters certainly didn't miss KNIGHT DESTROYER when he landed some heavy bets at Chepstow last month. On that evidence, a rise of 9lb might not be enough to stop him going in again. Intellect won well at Nottingham and Sir Michael Stoute’s colt shouldn’t be inconvenienced by the extra distance. The market will tell us whether the handicapper has his sums right. Petitioner makes his first foray onto turf having won at Kempton. A half-brother to Biographer, he should be well suited if a dour slog develops. Munstead Star has shaped with promise in three maidens and Andrew Balding has given her plenty of time to recover from two relatively quick runs. Wefait, Zack Mayo, Star Maker and Amelia Dream are all last time out winners and are respected accordingly.
