In depth

Verdict

Wogan has worked well at home and should go close at the expense of Pirate Flagship, with Scalini's and Nelson du Ronceray other leading players. With the Nicky Henderson team in good shape, hopes are high that Wogan can make a name for himself this season, and his latest gallops at Seven Barrows suggests that he is forward enough to go close today. He was not beaten far on his bumper debut at Worcester in April and has schooled really well over timber so whatever happens today, looks one to follow. Pirate Flagship shaped with a good deal of promise on his return at Wincanton and should again be to the fore, but might need further, while Scalini's seems a similar sort based on his return at Chepstow. Nelson du Ronceray is a half-brother to Gloria Victis no less and should be noted in the market along with Paradise Bay. In what could turn out to be an informative affair, we return to Wogan as the speculative choice.
