In depth

Verdict

Tango Cat can fulfil the promise he showed at Newbury last time by losing his maiden tag here, with Alafdal, New Orchid and Feel Good Factor others to note. Tango Cat was trained by Aidan O'Brien last year, but showed bags of promise on her first run for Willie Jarvis when fourth in what could be a reasonable maiden at Newbury on her reappearance. This is probably a weaker race and he would not have to improve a great deal to win here. Barry Hills' New Orchid shaped as though she needs a good deal further than this trip when sixth on her debut on the same card, and her breeding reinforces that opinion so she is probably one who will come to her own in handicap company later in the year. Alafdal was well-beaten when second here last time and does not look to be one of John Dunlop's premier league, so Feel Good Factor, representing Luca Cumani, might be worth noting in the market on his racecourse debut. Mark Johnston saddles another newcomer in Juristicia, but it would seem that Kevin Darley has chosen the Dunlop horse in preference.
