Verdict

The Karl Burke-trained PARADISE SPECTRE is going the right way and can get off the mark in this company. King of Reason and North Central are obvious contenders out of the rest with previous experience, while Richard Fahey's debutante, Lord Aeryn is a half-brother to a winning sprinter and, as the Yorkshire-based trainer's horses are generally running out of their skins; he is worth monitoring closely in the betting. North Central was an expensive purchase at the Keenland Sales last September but definitely needed the experience when he was introduced at Musselburgh earlier this month. He should be wiser for the outing but still needs to have improved greatly in the 19 days since he last raced. Similar comments apply to King Of Reason, who makes his turf debut after making a pleasing start on the all-weather at Kempton a fortnight ago. In-form jockey Darryll Holland takes the reins on the son of King's Best and a bold effort can be anticipated. However, Paradise Spectre was more like the finished article when he finished a close second at Hamilton eight days ago and the Harry Findley-owned colt is fancied as the best betting proposition there.
