The opener should be chiefly contested by Miss Smilla and FLY SILCA FLY, and the latter gets the vote, while Powerful Pierre is respected. The selection is just given the nod over her chief rival on account of her proven ability on soft ground, for there is little to choose between them on form. The Channon inmate stayed on strongly to oblige at Ripon last time over the minimum trip, but is well worth a try back at 6f, a distance over which she has twice made the frame. Her mark of 74 is reasonable for this nursery debut and she is given the nomination. Miss Smilla has yet to prove herself on this ground but conversely, she has winning form over this trip at Nottingham. There is sure to be more scope for improvement in this, her third start, and she should go close. Jedd O'Keeffe has his string running well and we expect to see much more now from Powerful Pierre as he takes the plunge in handicap company. He has a low enough mark but the going may be his strongest opponent. Ananda Kanda will handle conditions, but it is pre-race proceedings that are of more concern after her last run. If she settles better here then don't rule her out, but preference is for Fly Silca Fly.
