This race may not be quite as competitive as the numbers suggest, and the consistent Fly More looks the best option, with Proud Western the biggest danger. Milton Bradley's sprinter has rarely run a bad race of late, having won at Goodwood last month and was far from disgraced when second in a photo finish at Warwick last time. The gelding loves these conditions and off the same mark here he cannot be far away, with the booking of John Egan and added bonus. Proud Western is no world beater, but has improved in his last couple of races. He finished very strongly when second in a ladies race on Thursday night and with Paul Hanagan riding at his minimum weight he is almost certain to play a part in the finish. The booking of Jamie Spencer catches the eye on Jim Goldie's King's Ballet, although the gelding would be happier on a softer surface, while both Laurel Dawn and Bannister come here in fair form and have reasonable place claims, but Fly More seems sure to be thereabouts and he gets the vote.
