Verdict

Runners from the stables of Mick Channon and Richard Hannon always have to be respected in nurseries so their respective representatives here Scotch N' Dry and Bentley's Ball have to be on the short list but the vote goes to Baltic Wave, who looks well-treated despite the burden of 9st 7lb. The son of Polish Precedent, who won first time out at Ripon, lost no caste in defeat behind the useful Great Scott at Beverley before regaining the winning thread at Doncaster last month. A mark of 94 seems fair and, with David Barron's stable in good form, Baltic Wave makes plenty of appeal. Scotch N' Dry represents solid nursery form and has been dropped 2lbs since his run at Ascot last time. He has to be respected, along with last time out winners Bentley's Ball and Multiple Choice. The most interesting runner, apart from the selection, could be David Loder's Tribute, who had little chance behind the impressive Dallaah at Lingfield on his most recent start. However, it will take a good one to get the better of Baltic Wave, who is taken to defy top weight.
