Verdict

SHANTARAM is hard to get away from in the opener. He followed a close second to subsequent Derby runner-up Main Sequence with an odds on victory in soft ground over 1m4f here last month and John Gosden won last year's renewal with Masked Marvel, who went on to land the St Leger. Rewarded couldn't cope with Energizer in the Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot last month but there may be more to come from the Motivator colt over this longer trip while we'll find out just how good the unbeaten Valiant is today after he won a decent handicap at York on his latest start. The remainder have it all to do on today's terms though Yazdi faced a tough task over 2m in the Queen's Vase at Ascot last time and makes more appeal than Good Morning Star and Naseem Alyasmeen dropping back in trip.
