Verdict

Hortensia sets a reasonable standard with two runs under her belt and should be in the mix, but with Mahmood Al Zarooni already having his runners plenty forward enough we will take IDIOM to win this, while Looksmart and Madany look very interesting. Mick Channon's Hortensia showed improvement for her first run when putting in a decent effort behind Bahceli at Pontefract a couple of weeks ago. Trip and ground suit and she looks a leading player, but there may be one smarter among the debutant ranks. Richard Hannon will have a line on Hortensia, as he trains Bahceli and he saddles Looksmart in this. She is related to 5f winners at two, and with the yard's juveniles on fire this turf campaign she is feared. Madany is a nicely-bred Acclamation filly who is a half-sister to six winning two-year-olds. She should do better over further with age, but for now she is much respected. Sixty Roses looks likely to be better next year, as does Al Janadeirya, and we prefer the claims of Idiom. The Godolphin newcomer is the daughter if Iffraaj, who won some high class races over 6-7f, and this minimum trip is ideal for starters, while the ground should be perfect for her and she gets the nod.
