In depth

Formwatch

Superior Premium Tough and durable; put up career best to win Cork and Orrery but hasn't been out since and shoulders 10lb penalty here.

Gorse Mudlark who narrowly won Group Three in Deauville before close third in Prix Maurice de Gheest; 6lb penalty makes life harder.

Astonished Won three including Listed event for John Hammond last term; stays this trip but very best form over 5f on good ground.

Bahamian Pirate (USA) Landed Ayr Gold Cup and Listed race here last October; will improve for eyecatching return at Doncaster and likes cut in ground; can go close.

Cretan Gift Reaching veteran stage and likely to struggle here.

Now Look Here Had tendon problems last term but back to very best with wide margin win at Doncaster; not the most consistent.

Tedburrow Grand old sprinter but is an infrequent winner these days although has won this event in past and trip/going no problem.

Vision of Night Won twice last term including Listed event on July course; makes return and best on quicker ground.

Warningford Confirmed soft-ground specialist but is better over slightly further and may need outing under 4lb penalty.

Awake Useful handicapper at best but stone last on return and has plenty to prove at this level.

Compton Banker (IRE) Landed gamble in Portland Handicap last term and not disgraced on return but needs faster conditions.

Fath (USA) Smart juvenile when just beaten in Middle Park; largely disappointing for Godolphin last term and needs fast ground; best watched for new stable.

Fire Dome (IRE) Has been well placed by current yard and ran as well as could be expected on return but will find this tougher.

Further Outlook (USA) Frontrunner who goes well on soft ground; race-fit but this looks a stiff task.

Grey Eminence (FR) Consistent handicapper who needs to find further improvement to figure.

Hunting Lion (IRE) Won valuable h'cap over C&D and was close third behind Observatory at Royal Ascot; returns after lengthy absence.

Manorbier Much improved handicapper last term but will struggle in this company.

Misraah (IRE) Won minor event at this meeting last term; tackles this trip for first time; something to prove.

Primo Valentino (IRE) Won five as juvenile including Middle Park; took on best sprinters last term, close fourth in July Cup, and sure to go close although wouldn't want ground too testing.

Cotton House (IRE) Improved for reappearance when close second in Listed company at Longchamp latest; has solid place claims.

Toleration Lightly-raced and disappointed all three starts last term.

Total Love Best over further and form tailed off last term; has first start for new stable.

Nearly A Fool Brocklesby winner who loves soft ground but hard to fancy against elders at this level.
