In depth

Verdict

With fitness at a premium, this is another bit of a guessing game, and a chance is taken that Goodbye Mr Bond can prove too strong for the likes of Font, Eden Rock and Tumblewood Glory. Goodbye Mr Bond came back with a bang when scoring at Ayr nine days ago, and Eric Alston has wasted no time in turning him out again here. Good enough to win a class 2 event at York last June, he goes on the ground and will surely be bang in there at the finish. Font has been well galloped, and this lightly-raced gelding makes his handicap debut today. Sure to be well placed by James Fanshawe, he should be followed. Eden Rock has joint topweight and a bit of an absence to overcome, while Tumbleweed Glory has a handy weight but is yet another that returns to the fray. Former Cambridgeshire hero Spanish Don is on the downgrade now and is hard to fancy, and for the winner we return to Goodbye Mr Bond.
