In depth

Verdict

A potentially very good maiden fillies race to start the night, with Chaski, Martian Glow, Dance Sequel, Smitten Kitten, Nut and My Amalie, with the vote going to Chaski. It could pay to watch the betting here, but Chaski ran well enough when hampered on her Lingfield debut to warrant some consideration tonight. The step up from five furlongs will certainly help the cause of Martian Glow, who was second to Shermeen on her debut and the question is, will the newcomers be good enough to beat her? The market might provide clues, although this is certainly a race to watch with interest. The well-bred Sir Michael Stoute runner, Dance Sequel, and Brian Meehan's Royal Applause filly, Madam Mac, who cost 40,000 guineas, catch the eye on breeding, although the stable's other runner, Smitten Kitten, looks the better Meehan option on jockey bookings. From the Mick Channon yard, Ridgeway Cross can also be considered, while Nut is a 52,000 guineas daughter of Fasliyev, and certainly has plenty to like on breeding, as does My Amalie, a Clive Brittain-trained daughter of Galileo and a Rahy mare who is well connected. Finally, Desert Flora is possibly one to watch out for with an eye to the future, while Heaven Can Wait is related to a number of winners and might go well from an in-form stable. It's a tricky but very interesting contest, with the vote going to Chaski.
