Verdict

There was plenty of money for MOST IMPROVED on his debut over C&D three weeks ago but he was mugged on the line by Kinglet. Brian Meehan's colt looks a nice prospect, however, and an entry in the Royal Lodge suggests he's expected to hold his own in better company. With that run under his belt, he can recoup losses today. Many of the big yards are represented in this, however, with Mahmood Al Zarooni saddling three. Trois Vallees, a $375,000 purchase may be the pick while Hefner, fifth in a decent maiden at Sandown at the start of the month, looks the best of Richard Hannon's pair. Alwaaqi and The Queen's Bank Bonus are interesting debutants but will probably need further.
