Verdict

Clarke Lane has it all to prove now tried in blinkers while the likeable Amwell Pinot could only manage second here off 5lbs lower when last tried in a handicap. Orientalist is progressing well but may struggle now reassessed in this better grade and with Geesala and Byronic looking to have more than their fair share of weight our vote goes to BELGIAN BILL. George Baker's charge looks nicely treated off 83 as the horse he readily brushed aside when last seen is rated 80 and slower ground is unlikely to pose a problem judging by the horse's breeding. Providing he's fit and well following a 63-day break we're confident of a big run. Whaileyy needs to improve on the bare form of his Yarmouth success where he was allowed to dictate at a slow pace but perhaps he resented that and there's reason to expect he'll improve further while Glen's Diamond should relish the extra furlong here and Mother Jones ran well enough a week ago to offer hope to backers.
