In depth

Verdict

The short list for this tricky contest contains Easy Air, Jamieson Gold, Desert Chief and High Bray, with the selection being Easy Air. The likes of Hartshead and Minority Report come here with competitive and progressive profiles and are respected, while Compton's Eleven is edging towards a more-competitive rating. Desert Chief looked very progressive in winning two from two last season and rates as a danger to all if handling the going. The Britannia Stakes runner-up Easy Air has plenty of scope for further improvement, being lightly raced, while Plum Pudding has not quite delivered on earlier promise but should not be written off just yet. Being just three pounds above a Newbury, seven furlong win on good to soft, Jamieson Gold gets a fair shout, while Kenmore has run well here in the past over six furlongs and likes juice in the ground. Muzher came good over course and distance on soft going last time and looks upwardly mobile so also holds claims, while a return to the level of last autumn's form would give High Bray pretty good claims. All in all, it is a competitive race, with the selection being Easy Air.
