A number of these have proved disappointing in their careers so far so MIX N MATCH is a shot in the dark against Amazing Request and Crimson Canyon. Gerald Ham's charge has run with a degree of credit around the Newton Abbot circuit in the past when trained by Jimmy Frost so it is to be hoped that this race can justify the trainer's decision to claim him a couple of months ago. At the forecast odds, he holds more hope than most. Amazing Request is a regular in plating company. He is much better than his recent effort at Worcester might ordinarily imply. Crimson Canyon has all manner of aids at his disposal today including first time eyeshields. He was well supported on his previous visit to this course although bombed out spectacularly on that occasion. Byblos needs to be watched closely in the market. He has shown little for the assessor to get excited about and has been tried on the flat on a couple of occasions during the summer. Nothing Is Forever has been tried against some better class novices so the switch to handicapping makes him of interest. Lean Burn offered a modicum of promise last time out having showed virtually nil in novice company. A race that will not require much aptitude in order to win it and on this occasion, Mix N Match secures our nomination.
