In depth

Verdict

Smart recruit, Wait For The Will looks set to follow-up his recent victory ahead of improvers, Maldoun and Kombinacja. Currently rated 89 on the flat, he managed to break his duck in fine style over course and distance and it could well be that he is a reformed character now that he has a few flights of hurdles to think about. Maldoun made hard work of landing the odds at Kelso but should have stripped fitter for the race. Although not all of Martin Pipe's string are firing at the moment, he looks a potentially useful recruit to the game. Kombinacja had competed in German Group 1's before joining Tom George. The mare has taken some time to come to herself for new connections and any market confidence should be noted. Shirazi was a useful middle-distance handicapper for John Hills and now makes his debut for David Gandolfo. Hatteras' form has been on soft ground in the provences and is on debut for Paul Nicholls.
