In depth

Verdict

Boulevardofdreams is taken to defy a penalty against his older rivals, the best of whom may be Edgar Wilde, with Lease Back also worth a second glance. The fact that Martin Pipe pitches Boulevardofdreams into this under a penalty tells us that he is confident of success, and that should be enough. The four-year-old can back up his claims with a convincing British debut win over the course and distance 10 days ago, gained despite some none too fluent jumping. The former Irish point-to-point winner is sure to have learnt from that though, and has bags of scope. He can once prove too good for Edgar Wilde who was in third place when falling at the fifth at the west-country track. Mind you, the ease in ground conditions will help the latter and if he stay on his feet this time, he can give the selection most to do. Lease Back was still going well enough when falling three out at Wincanton, and this ex-French performer will be one to follow perhaps when sent over fences, but he and the rest will struggle to contain Boulevardofdreams.
