Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Once again, a race that is strong in numbers rather than quality, but Ishandraz is in fair form, has more scope than any of his rivals, and is a fairly confident selection; Nemisto, Flying Bold and Spanish Archer are others to come into the reckoning. Martin Pipe's six-year-old put up an improved performance to score on his handicap debut, in a non-seller at Plumpton, and has shaped well in defeat on his two subsequent outings, the latest when chasing home Barcelona at Fontwell. Ishandraz remains lightly-raced and on a pound lower mark should be good enough to take this under the hands of Tony McCoy. Nemisto is well treated on some of his old form, and drops in grade after a reasonable third at Warwick last time, so it would be no surprise to see him feature in the finish, while Flying Bold has been off the track for a few months but was a course and distance winner last August and would have fair claims if fit enough today. Spanish Archer's chance is possibly less obvious, and he appears to have deteriorated since leaving the Hobbs stable last year, but he is likely to strip fitter for his reappearance in a better race at Exeter last time and with conditions to suit here, could go well at a decent price.
