Verdict

Fine Silver, Dandoun and St Andrews are the three we like here and the confident vote is given to Dandoun. The selection is dropped significantly in grade here and will handle this heavy surface, and those two factors should be the key to seeing him get his head in front. Fine Silver is a progressive three-year-old and he put up a really game effort last time when a good third behind Spanish Don, but all his best form has been on a sound surface and for that reason he is opposed here. St Andrews finished well behind Fine Silver in the race won by Spanish Don, but that was on a sound surface and he is much more effective when there is plenty of give underfoot. He will relish these conditions and if he can reproduce his previous run on a heavy surface when he beat Excelsius, then he may well be able to get competitive here. Scientist won well last time and is another to consider, but he will have to improve plenty to trouble our selection and we will stick with Dandoun as our idea of the winner.
