In depth

Verdict

Sinbad The Sailor is the one to be with here; Montiboli, Nortune and Bowder Stone are our idea of the dangers. The selection is potentially well handicapped granted a positive reading of last season's form and it may be worth taking a chance with him on his seasonal return despite doubts about the yard's form. He was well held on debut but then finished close up in a warm Sandown maiden won by Ridge Dance; he didn't match that form on his latest start but he may be able to fulfil the promise of that second outing this season. Montiboli ran on well to win at Catterick and the second gave the form a boost when a runner up at Warwick on Monday; she should still be competitive from her revised mark. Nortune may not have acted on the rain softened ground last time and could be worth another chance now that conditions have dried out. The market should be helpful in respect of his chance and in judging the claims of Bowder Stone. It would be no surprise if Bowder Stone proved capable of winning from his initial mark and he's respected but we'll row in with Sinbad The Sailor.
