In depth

Verdict

Sign Of The Cross should have come on for his recent run and gets the vote ahead of Thinking Positive and Arabiyah. James Fanshawe's colt looked as if he would improve fitness-wise for that run at Yarmouth as he came with a strong run inside the final quarter of a mile but tired close home. Today's quicker ground should hold no fears and Jamie Spencer can add another to his tally. Thinking Positive ran a race full of promise on her debut last year; the winner of that race, Light Shift, went on to Oaks glory in June. That form looks very solid (2nd, 7th, 8th, 12th, and 13th have all won since) and with another winter on her back, she warrants utmost respect for her powerful stable. Sky Chart managed to unseat his rider on debut when running extremely green and better can be expected today, whilst Arabiyah improved on his first run to finish fourth at Chepstow 16 days ago. He again needs to step up to trouble the judge today. At a price Montrachet could go well if improving for the experience of her debut run, however Sign Of The Cross looks progressive and can score at the third time of asking.
