In depth

Verdict

A Mere Bagatelle returned from a fallow period to post a runner-up effort at this track last time, only going down by half a length to Jackhammer. His chance now is dependent upon him confirming he's back to form, in which case he'll have every chance of going one better. However, WELL PLANTED was only a couple of lengths back in third after travelling sweetly and is now 2lb better off. He's likely to give his running and it will be interesting to see if Brian Hughes can hang on to him a little longer before launching his usual late challenge. Cliffs Of Doonen is seen as the best of the Dobbin pair and is likely to prove suited to going back half a mile in trip.
