Verdict

The novice's handicap chase can go to Manoram, with Ambushed and Merry Tina rated his biggest dangers. The Ian Williams-trained five-year-old won at Worcester from a mark of 87 in July and, despite now being rated 100, has put up two solid efforts in defeat since. He sets the benchmark for the form of this race, with Ambushed, a course winner over hurdles and now running from a rating a good bit lower than when running well over fences in the spring, and Merry Tina, who has been pretty consistent from her current mark, looking to be the selection's strongest rivals. While Dante's Bush has suggested ability, like the others, he has something to prove overall, which is not something you can say on recent form about the selection, which is Manoram.
