Martin Pipe's Irish bumper winner Try Catch Paddy is bound to be popular on his first start over hurdles for his new connections but faces no easy task against Without A Doubt, who gets the vote over Golden Bay. The selection had some decent form in bumpers last term and lost no caste in defeat behind another Pipe inmate Escompteur on his hurdling debut over course and distance last month. The stable of Mark Pitman continues in decent form and Try Catch Paddy will need to be useful to get the better of the son of Singspiel. Esters Boy ran with credit behind Saturday's novice handicap winner Aldirous at Worcester last time and has to be respected along with Jacks Craic although a bigger threat may come from Golden Bay. Toby Balding's mare won a bumper here in February and subsequently ran well in defeat in better company behind Marsh Run in a decent event at Sandown. She makes her debut over hurdles today but Without A Doubt has the benefit of a recent outing and experience over timber and that may prove to be decisive.
