Verdict

PUSH THE PORT gets the vote ahead of the unfortunate Radar Love and the consistent Sarahs Gift. Radar Love battled on well to achieve a first career success on just his second start over fences only to lose the race in the stewards' room after the jockey weighed in light. To add insult to injury, the handicapper still gets to have his say and he has to make his bid for compensation from a 5lb higher mark. Sarahs Gift has been placed on half of his seven chase starts and comes into the race in good form but there's no particular reason as to why he should suddenly get his head in front. Spanchil Hill goes well for Tom Scudamore so he makes the short-list but Push The Port may well be able to provide Leighton Aspell with a winner on his return from retirement. He has come to himself this year, is unexposed over fences and looks well treated on his hurdles form and Push The Port is taken to double his tally.
