Verdict

A competitive claimer where STAR LINKS is given another chance and is taken to overturn last week's Ascot form with Roar Of Applause. The selection had a much lower draw than Roar Of Applause in a big field handicap over Ascot's straight mile and was clearly at a disadvantage. Heavily eased when beaten, Richard Hannon's charge had previously showed stronger form than his leading challenger here and with conditions, trip and the weights all in his favour he can return to winning ways. Roar Of Applause also acts on this surface and should remain very competitive. Another fast ground performer is All About You, although so far the colt has looked more like the sprinter his father was, rather than the milers on his dam's side and he may struggle to see out this hill today. The same comment applies to Tim Easterby's Helieorbea, who will at least act on the going, and Bea Menace might be a better proposition as one who is bred to get further and has conditions to suit. She doesn't have too much to find at the weights and go make the frame here, but we'll take Star Links to score.
