      Verdict

Salaasa is the recommendation for the opener with Veracity and Lucy Rebecca as the obvious dangers. Salaasa hails from the very much in-form Mark Johnston stable and shaped as if a winter on his back would be of benefit. Second at Newcastle on his final outing of the year, he travelled well but was probably beaten by his own immaturity when push came to shove. Compensation awaits. Veracity was tried on soft going at Windsor on debut so is difficult to assess. He shaped as if needing a trip although his lack of fancy entries is something of a negative. Lucy Rebecca plugged on for ninth in a back end Newmarket maiden. More can be anticipated. Murdoch narrowly missed out on his sole juvenile start when running above his 50/1 odds but he was well adrift on his first run this term. John Dillon looks sure to be up there from flagfall and looks the pick of the Pat Haslam entry. Salaasa looks to have all the ticks in the right boxes and is likely to be priced accordingly.
