Verdict

Not surprising to see a maximum field drawn together for this considering the amount of entries there were at the five-day stage, which were headed by Tagula Bay; a fact that will have pleased the connections of Fair Spin, who edges the narrowest of votes of confidence tonight. The penalised Hula Ballew, along with Basinet and Newcorp Lad will not make it easy for the selection though, while Zawrack could be the surprise package of the race if the first time headgear works the oracle. Golden Spectrum also appeals a horse that will be paying his for David Nicholls in due course and he is one to monitor for signs of encouragement without getting involved with financially here. In contrast to Fair Spin, who is still lightly raced and is one of the least exposed over this tip. The mile was not a problem for him at Haydock last time and he could be a different proposition now that he seems to have found his level. Any easing in the ground will not be a problem for Fair Spin and he can finally gain his first win on these shores if all goes well today.
