In depth

Verdict

Pentathlon looks the one to be with here in a competitive opener; Bouguereau and Murcar are the others to consider. The selection has shown plenty of promise on his 2 starts on the all-weather and this step-up in trip should play to his strengths. He has run very green on both of his racecourse outings so he should come on for the experience and he can go close. Bouguereau was fourth in a Deauville Listed race but he could only finish third behind Emmrooz at Goodwood last time. He should win on the pick of his form but he has a bit to prove after that most recent run. Murcar finished behind our selection on his debut but he stayed-on nicely and he is another that will be seen to better effect over this longer trip. Sphere is an interesting newcomer from the James Fanshawe yard and is worth a look in the market, but for the winner we will stick with Pentathlon.
