        In depth

        Verdict

        Johnny Cavagin has won five of his 11 races around here, including from higher marks in his younger days, though he's up 6lb for his latest victory and may just be a couple of pounds high. Alsvinder was in top form on the all-weather last winter and can race from a 17lb lower mark on Turf but hasn't quite been able to take advantage in recent starts. Hawaam is a soft-ground specialist but went up 8lb for last month's victory at Thirsk and couldn't cope on a return visit. It's a very long time since SHEEPSCAR LAD won a race but he's dropped to such a lowly mark that this could be his day and he won't mind the conditions. Prestbury Park hasn't won since his two-year-old days and hasn't shown much sign of doing so.
