Verdict

Willie Mullins, who has won ten of the last eleven of these, saddles three of the five entries including the 2019 winner Saldier and Sharjah, who scored in 2018 and last year. The former won the Galway Hurdle last year and though not in peak form is capable of winning this at his best. The latter has had a brilliant career with six of his nine victories over timber coming at Grade 1 level. After landing a Limerick maiden, STATE MAN won the County Handicap at Cheltenham then was very impressive in the Grade 1 Champion Novice Hurdle here and is Paul Townend's pick. Galway Hurdle runner-up Jesse Evans has been in excellent form but needs to step-up while Teahupoo does best on heavy ground as he showed when beating the smart Darasso easily at Gowran in February.
