Verdict

Only four of these have raced before, so a market check is essential, but we'll side with experience and the improving HASTY, in preference to the potential pick of the newcomers Al Razi and Mark Anthony. Barry Hills' filly shouldn't be inconvenienced if the ground is a little testing, given her breeding, and she's shown a good attitude and plenty of ability in her last couple of runs when placed on both occasions, following an inauspicious debut. She cost 95,000 last year, and probably isn't a world beater, but her experience could prove decisive. She's well drawn, and the yard's in good form, and support in the ring would further encourage us, although given the number of unknowns we wouldn't take too short a price. Godolphin's two year olds usually come good come this time of year, and Al Razi is their only runner on the card, and indeed it's rare to see them here. She cost twice as much as the selection, and as yet doesn't have any fancy entries either. Mark Anthony is another debutant, and again could be anything. A cheap purchase, Kevin Ryan's two year olds aren't doing as well as his older horses, but he does do well here. As ever in this sort of contest the ring should be closely monitored, but we'll side with one that we hopes lives up to her name, and that's Hasty.
