Verdict

ANGEL GABRIAL was winning for the first time since the 2014 Northumberland Plate when scooting up over 2m on good to soft at Ripon. He's only gone up 3lb so must have a realistic chance of a follow-up. Up Ten Down Two has only ever won on the all-weather though acts on soft and stays the trip well as do Midnight Warrior and Jan De Heem, who fought out the finish of a similar contest over the track and trip in 2017 with the latter coming out best at today's revised weights. Big Time Dancer was in excellent form over timber at the turn of the year and started favourite on his return to the Flat at Doncaster three weeks ago but appeared to find this trip on fast ground too short.
