Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Emperor's Well can prevail at the expense of Dark Charm, Gala Sunday and Sgt Schultz. Mick Easterby saddles no less than three runners here, and preference is for Emperor's Well, the mount of Serena Brotherton. The seven-year-old still looks well-treated on his best form, and although he has finished behind Gala Sunday on each of the three occasions that they have met, jockey bookings suggest that it is time for him to gain revenge. Dark Charm came from off the pace to finish a close second at Ayr last time, and the return to 10 furlongs is very much in his favour, so he rates a big danger, while Sgt Schultz is a bit in and out but is capable of reaching the frame. Silverhay is a course-and-distance winner, and Shosolosa has a good partner in Lorraine Ellison, but the vibes suggest that Emperor's Well is the one to be on this time.
