Verdict

A trappy event to conclude the day's racing with not too many of the runners in particularly good form, but Ampoule is on a fair mark and just gets the vote ahead of Joely Green, Simple Ideals and Crownfield. Clive Brittain's horse won twice on the all-weather earlier this season and while so far he has not proved as effective on turf he ran well enough when staying on into seventh behind Landing Light at York last time, has been dropped a couple of pounds by the handicapper and seems sure to appreciate this extra furlong. Joely Green is another who has been more successful on sand, but was not disgraced in mid-division at Yarmouth last time and is another who has been given a chance by the handicapper. Simple Ideals should be spot on after two starts this season and is three pounds lower in the weights than when winning over course and distance last October, so it would be no surprise to see Don Enrico Incisa's eight-year-old run a big race here, but a better chance is given to Mary Reveley's Crownfield. A maiden on the flat for Bill Turner, he comes here on the back of a good win over hurdles at Wetherby earlier this month and could easily be thrown in here off a mark of just 67, so he looks the main danger to the selection.
