Verdict

Tim Easterby's horses are showing plenty of zest at the present time and SEA FLOWER ticks the right boxes as the selection for a punt in a tricky opener; Satin Love represents a powerful yard and, as the most expensive of these to go through the sales ring, he has to merit consideration, while Brave Dream also appears to hold solid credentials as a likely type for a race of this nature. The last named will have the assistance of Jamie Spencer in the saddle and, as his dam won over 5f here as a juvenile, the foundations looks solid enough to expect a bold effort from the Kevin Ryan-trained colt. Given that Ryan can boast a 25% strike-rate with juveniles at Ripon, it's likely that his representative will be a prominent figure in the betting. A similar case can be stated for Satin Love; an American bred who cost $150,000 as a yearling. Today's prize-money might not be enough to even cover an interest payment but the son of Mineshaft will be a major player if he handles the surface. Insolenceofoffice and Sister Sioux are others with sprint winners in their pedigrees, so could feasibly go well as more adventurous choices. However, with Easterby's string in such good order, it would be dangerous to allow Sea Flower to slip under the radar - especially as her fillies allowance can be a great asset at this time of year. A daughter of a former top sprinter, Sea Flower makes plenty of appeal for a speculative investment in a race where guesswork has to play a huge part in any pre-race assessments.
