In depth

Verdict

Inchpast was good value for his win at Sandown last time and is taken to follow up at the main expense of Skylarker and Darn Good. The last mentioned has slipped to a favourable mark but has given little sign of encouragement of late and may be best watched at present. Turn 'n Burn has claims on the pick of his form but has not shown enough of late, while Absolutelythebest has yet to show his effectiveness on a fast surface. Linens Flame has struggled off similar marks since winning at Kempton in April and may want more cut in the ground anyway, while Wavertree Dream was well beaten on his return following a lengthy absence and it is difficult to know how much ability he retains. The vote then goes to the Mark Tompkins-trained Inchpast, who fulfilled earlier promise this term with a comfortable success at Sandown and is taken to follow up off just a 4lb higher mark.
