In depth

Verdict

Zabeel Tiger gets the vote in the opener over Conquisto and High Plains. The selection ran with some promise in a maiden at Newbury on his debut in a race that has worked out well. He will need to improve to win this, but he is sure to come on for the experience and the stable have got a fair strike-rate with their 2-year-olds this season. Conquisto finished in mid-division on his racecourse bow at Newbury back in May in a race won by Coasting. That race has thrown up a few winners so it was a creditable debut effort, and if he can improve for the experience then he should be thereabouts at the finish. Richard Hannon has done well with his two-year-olds this season so High Plains has to enter calculations on his racecourse debut, along with stablemates Hit The Roof and Ike Quebec. However, Zabeel Tiger showed enough on his debut to make him the one to beat today and he gets the tentative vote.
