Verdict

Drum Major gets the vote from Never Ending Tale and Buddy Holly. We liked the look of Never Ending Tale given that he ran on well to win at Lingfield and the filly that finished second went on to win a Listed race on her next start. The Jarvis colt is open to improvement and should be able to win races from his current mark but the selection was only five lengths behind him at Lingfield and meets him on 11lb better terms. The Stoute colt has disappointed since then but he appears to be on a decent mark as a result and is worth chancing. Buddy Holly won well here last time and is progressing well and should be in the mix again despite being 7lbs higher. His proven affinity for the track is a plus although he may not want the ground riding too fast. Rochefort is another worthy of mention in an open race as his reappearance run in a more competitive race at the Derby meeting was a perfectly respectable effort and he's entitled to have come on for it. However, we're going to take Drum Major to dictate the pace and lead them home.
