Richard Hannon has three entered in this opener but Usain Colt may not take his chance if the ground deteriorates further and Red Seventy and North Star Boy have a bit to prove on this year's form. A high draw may have scuppered the hat-trick chances of dual Salisbury winner Ivor's Princess while Kempton runner-up Dutch Supreme is also berthed out wide. So is Chepstow scorer Rocky Reef, who is also a couple of pounds out of the handicap, and Signor Sassi keeps finding one too good despite starting favourite on all four career starts.
