In depth

Verdict

Pepporoni Pete will not be much of a price but he is hard to oppose in this beginners' chase and he gets the vote over Dasher Reilly and Star Shot. The selection is making his seasonal reappearance here and also his chasing debut but he is sure to have been well schooled for this and he has gone well fresh in the past. On the pick of his form from last season he would breeze up here and if his jumping holds up he will be hard to beat. Dasher Reilly does have the benefit of a recent run and he shaped with a good deal of promise over fences last time when second behind Sasso. Similar comments would apply to Star Shot who shaped with promise behind The Wicketkeeper at Hereford last time. However, like Dasher Reilly, he does not look in the same class as the selection and if Pepporoni Pete put in a fluent round of jumping he will be difficult to beat.
