Blue Spartan is taken to win the opener at the expense of Premier Danseur and Maxwil. The selection came good third time of asking at Chepstow last month in which he beat Akarshan by a convincing four lengths. The one doubt of that form was that it was very soft that day and as a result there were a few odd results. That said if he turns up in the same kind of form he could prove difficult to beat. Premier Danseur won a mile handicap at Pontefract last time out. He now races off a five pound higher mark which will only make life tougher but he can still give punters a good run for their money once again. Maxwil improved throughout last season eventually winning at Brighton. He caught the eye on his seasonal reappearance at Newbury when finishing second to Allied Powers. He can improve for fitness and with this drop in trip he has to be the biggest danger to the selection. But for the winner we return to Blue Spartan.
